The HUAWEI P30 series smartphone was launched in Paris at 26th of this month. Today, I would like to talk about this product in my opinion.

Last year Huawei brought a qualitative boost to mobile phone photography with a 1/1.7 inch CMOS (IMX600). Huawei upgraded the CMOS again in this year.
In addition to the new CMOS, Huawei P30 Pro is the first smartphone with a commercial long-focus lens. The P30 Pro version uses a long focus camera to support 5-fold telephoto with an ultra-wide-angle lens (2.5 cm micro-range) and a TOF infrared depth-of-field lens, so that can offer the mobile phone hasphoto experience can be further improved qualitatively. Let’s start from the 40-megapixel.
This 40 million subject uses a CMOS that is different from the general RGBG arrangement CMOS. It uses the Bayer arrangement and combination of RYYB pixels and four pixels as one function. Huawei replaces the traditional RGB sub-pixel arrangement with red, blue and yellow sensors.
P30 series adopts RYYB array.
Why does Huawei adopt RYYB CMOS? Because yellow sensors will absorb both red and green light, CMOS using RYYB can absorb 40% more light than traditional RGB arrays, thus obtaining clearer pictures in dark environment.
The thicker spectral structure of RYYB arrays has further improved the limit ISO of Huawei’s P30 Pro. This time, the ISO of Huawei’s P30 Pro has reached 409600, quadrupling that of Huawei’s P20 Pro. In addition to the new CMOS, the P30 Pro also enhances the aperture size and further improves the lens light intake.
At the same time, due to the addition of optical anti-shake in both the main camera and the long focal length, the hand-held shooting effect of P30/P30 Pro under long exposure at night is also amazing with the cooperation of AIS and OIS.
With the support of optical anti-shake, Huawei’s video shooting ability of the P30 series has also made great progress. This time Huawei also uses a dual-view video, that is, wide-angle lens and long-focus lens to shoot at the same time. You can switch freely between different perspectives, and the video shooting method is more abundant.

In addition to night shooting, Huawei P30 supports 3-fold optical zoom, 5-fold hybrid zoom and 30-fold digital zoom, while Huawei P30 Pro with 5-fold potential optical zoom supports 5-fold optical zoom, 10-fold hybrid zoom and 50-fold digital zoom.

We can see that the high light in the distance of the HDR sample is not overexposed, and the dark details of the nearby woods remain intact. The color of sunset is also very accurate, and the picture is very tolerant.
After using RYYB CMOS, Huawei’s P30 Pro’s night vision has been improved qualitatively. The night stars are clear, and the details of the grass below have been well preserved. The overall visual impression is very shocking.
